The Society of O
The Society of O group derives its name from the Story of O novel first published in 1954 by French author Anne Desclos, writing under the pen name of Pauline Réage. However, this relatively new MMA group only started in the late 1970’s as a group and it models itself very closely with the submissives’ style of dresses worn in the original Story of O movie produced in 1975. In that, the dresses worn were long topless gowns. Subsequent remakes of the movie for cinema and tv have also tended to follow this style. A popular derivation of the dress are of a floor length skirt and under bust corset with just a neck collar above. The submissive’s breasts must be visible at all group events, but some Masters may cover their submissive’s breasts with something sheer when in public.
The Society is only one of two Association groups where members can only be Masters. The other being The Domfordians.
